Introduction
This included a simple introduction to some of the concepts behind HTML where it expressed the importance of the HTML (standards) and described some of the differences between HTML 2.0, HTML 3.2 AND HTML 4.0, the latter being the preferred one to use as set out by the (W3C).
Answers to Review Questions:
Q.1 What is HTML?
Hyper Text Mark up Language is the format which tells a computer how to display a web page. Documents are plain text files (ASCII) created in a text editor like 'notepad', and with secial "tags" or codes that a web browser knows how to interpret and display on a screen.
Q.2 Why should you be concerned about different HTML standards?
Simple basic standard use allows users of almost any kind of computer to view the web pages, as not all browsers may support fancy use of fonts, images, sound etc.
The viewer's monitor size can make a difference to what they see. They may not have the 'speed' to download large images, and the vision or hearing impaired will only be able to view/hear sites which have been created using the correct standard.
Use of a recognised standard makes it easier for anyone to make changes to the site files later as they will know what 'style' has been used.
