INTRODUCTIONS & ORIENTATION

Day one began with more enthusiasm than a racehorse about to start the Melbourne Cup and as I worked through the Oasis set up which included doing a 'short survey', followed by the WebcT set up which involved doing (the same) 'short survey', I was able to then sign in to either of my two units. Surprise surprise, I was asked to a 'short survey' - yes the same one - for each unit! Eventually, after discovering that my learning style is 'kinesthetic', I was allowed to access my much awaited for Net11.

Once in, I felt both excited and apprehensive about what was in store but after finding my way in to the discussion page and reading some of the posts by other students I felt most welcome and no longer 'alone'.

It seemed that many of my fellow students were already right in to things and talking about things I'd never heard of before, like BLOGS and FTP's, something called TELNET and PINGS???? Hmmm, 'oh well, I guess all will be revealed in time', I thought.

I continued to look around the site to orientate myself and found that the 'curriculum' link seemed to be the most important as it gave a detailed insight as to what to do.

Seems there are 5 Modules, all with individual tasks, with a time frame of approximately one module per 2 weeks. There are also 4 assignments to work through. According to my tutor Cynthia's comments the course is not linear and each module can be worked through in any order. Makes sense to me, to start at number one and go from there.............. Having said that, I seem to have followed suit from most other 'class mates' and jumped right in to creating this BLOG. Allbeit at the expense of time not spent on keeping up in Mod 1, which frustrates me as I write this.
