Blogging Fun

If I were advising a novice, wanting to have their own blog on what to look out for , I would firstly suggest they make themselves a bit of a list as to what they expect to be able to do on their blog and secondly, I would recommend they do a bit of research, either on the ‘net’ or in their local library to find out which would be the best option for them, dependant upon their individual needs.

A great little book I came across recently in my own local library, Cason, J. & Mcbride, N. (2006). Teach yourself blogging. London: Hodder Education, is a very useful resource for new and old bloggers. The book explains “what blogs are, how they work, and how to choose the right kind of blog for you”.

There are numerous blog hosting services available on the internet, and it is worth taking a look at a few before making a final decision. I would suggest looking at and comparing the tools on the following and take it from there:

http://wordpress.com

http://blogspot.com/

http://home.blogware.com/

Compare things on the service like the availability of comments, categories, blogroll lists, number of blogs, photo galleries, spam, visitor registration/login, type of templates available, ease of image uploading, password protection, to name a few.
